I am Afraid

I am Afraid
by M.R. Bersabal

I am afraid,
For one day, the stars shall come to take you away.
I am afraid,
And in my pre-sleeping hours I weep for that inevitable future.

Am I a fool for being so?
I have wasted many tears,
Pleading for the stars every night,
Hoping to delay its coming.

For you are the water to my heart.
My love, I cling to you.
And if you are no more,
I shall become a desert.

My needy heart,
It does not want to be a desert.
It wants to be the garden,
That feeds upon the rain of your love.

Alas,
My love cannot stop the stars from coming.
And so I am afraid,
Am I foolish for being so?
